Joys and Pitfalls of Traveling

Traveling is meant to be fun and expand our horizons.

We hope to widen our view of the world, relax with  family, or reconnect with friends. Each trip is a new opportunity to experience these things and maybe  more, like some good food and drinks along the way.
How far have you traveled? Local stays at home called a “Staycation” can lead to happy discoveries of  unique new experiences in our own hometown. Tours, museums, hiking, and live music are good options  for at home vacations.
How do you like to travel? We have options in our modern world: drive in a car, take a train, take an  airplane, or even charter a boat to a secluded place. Doesn’t that sound relaxing?
All-inclusive resorts are a convenient way to relax in your destination and not leave. Everything is  included, drinks, food, massages, and amenities such as sports, swimming pool, scuba diving.

Do exotic adventures interest you? Mexico has fascinating crystal caves in Chihuahua:

Cave of the Crystals or Giant Crystal Cave is a cave connected to the Naica Mine 300 metres (980 ft) below the surface in  Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Does travel to another country interest you? Discount flights are available through many online booking  sites such as Priceline, JustFly, CheapOair, and Skyscanner. For distant locations, especially other  countries you are not familiar with, try signing up for an online newsletter for insider information on travel  deals. For example, I subscribe to newsletters for tourist towns in Mexico and a Digital Nomad email  newsletter where I hear about worldwide travel discounts. This is helpful to find out about any travel  limitations or where people are having trouble getting their luggage to their destination.

Here are a few of the places Miss Tamra’s Business class students have traveled.

Andrea de Jesus (Andy) and her boyfriend took a trip to Monterrey inspired by movies they watched. They  liked the delicious carne dishes the most, and she tried a few new things. The pitfall was the weather was  too hot.

Daniela (Dani) was inspired by the Disney film Encanto and took a trip to Bogota, Colombia to meet up  with her friends. Traveling alone was fine for her, and she had a wonderful time reconnecting with her  friends. However, due to a mix-up with the airline, she had to pay for her checked luggage twice.

Maria Elena (Male) also went to Colombia with her husband and her son. They visited Cartagena,  Barranquilla, and Bogota. She liked the beach in Cartagena the most.

Patricia (Paty) took a suggestion from her mom and traveled to Laguna Bacalar in Quintana Roo. The  destination was fantastic. Although this was her last trip with her travel companion, she had a wonderful  time. They had a problem in the lagoon when a storm happened and the heavy winds were scary, but it  passed in only 15 minutes.

Sebastien followed a recommendation from his friends and took a trip to Ixtapa. The all-inclusive hotel  and beach were perfect for relaxing with family and friends. The weather was great, and the sea was  calm. No pitfalls for him on this trip – it was all good!

Alejandro (Alex) loved his trip to Los Cabos. He saw the location on social media, chose a beach and  booked with a travel agency. However, his checked luggage arriving at his home one month later was an  unhappy part of that travel experience.

Marco saw some advertising and joined his friends for a trip to La Pena de Bernal, Qro. He feasted on  gorditas, local candies, and michelada. Their photo moment turned out to have a picture of a cemetery in  it, unfortunately.

As for Miss Tamra, the teacher, my most memorable trip was with a friend to Cuernavaca for my birthday.  The all-inclusive hotel had yoga, a sweat lodge experience, swimming pools, a personal chef and lots of  margaritas. Making friends with the hotel staff and a road trip to Taxco made my best birthday. The trip  was perfect. The only pitfall was a quick “run as fast as you can” gate change at the Mexico City airport,  but we made it to the gate on time.
