A little about Christmas from your EnglishSmart Team

Christmas is more than just a holiday; it’s a time that evokes a unique sense of warmth, joy, and togetherness. Beyond the decorations and gifts, it’s a season that brings people closer, and a time to withness a spirit of generosity and kindness. There’s a beautiful magic in the air during Christmas—the households adorned with lights, families gathered around the dinner table sharing stories, and the sound of laughter fills the air. It’s a time to reconnect with loved ones, to express gratitude for what we have, and to reflect on the values of love, compassion, and giving. Christmas serves as a reminder to cherish the moments we have with our loved ones, emphasizing the significance of spreading love and goodwill to all.

Christmas is a very bittersweet season, it’s a beautiful time to spend time with my family and friends, an excuse to see my long distance relatives and also eat delicious food. It’s a beautiful time to exchange presents, and more importantly, a moment for being grateful and thinking about the achievements of the year. You also have the opportunity to think about the lessons, new and old friends in my life.

Since I have been working in a children’s hospital, this season has become a little bittersweet, as I see beautiful and small souls fighting for their life. Hence, being excited about Christmas makes me feel weird, but as I mentioned earlier I am really grateful and trying not to take everything for granted. I absolutely love this season. I love to spend time with my family. I normally visit my grandparents and sometimes I go to the beach and spend Christmas with my parents and sister.

Christmas, WOW, I absolutely LOVE this season! I don’t like the weather, but I adore the feeling of love, gratitude and happiness that you are surrounded by. I love how we take the time to be grateful for who we are and what we have. As well as, cheering ourselves on for pursuing our dreams during the year and making some of them come true, and yet some others are still works in progress. But what gets me every year is how people make us feel around this time of the year, and of course how we make them feel too, it’s like getting a second birthday but different and special in its own way.

Christmas brings me many memories from my childhood. I remember how I used to be excited about Santa Claus bringing presents for me, my sister and my parents. This night of the year has changed through time in my family. Now we have our dinner, board games, and a special gift exchange with real and fake ones, because as people say it’s not about the presents, it’s about feeling loved.

Christmas is a very special time of the year for me and it became my favorite holiday when I experienced my first one in Chicago. The lights, seeing decorations everywhere, the Christmas music and people wearing antlers, hats or Christmas sweaters really put a smile on my face. It wasn’t about the commercial side of it, but noticing how the holiday cheer was so contagious that people in general would really get in the holiday spirit. I saw acts of kindness, people paying forward Starbucks treats, or simply being wished Merry Christmas everywhere. All this really stirred my heart and made me feel like wanting to give back. I would think of my family and in our Christmas dinner I would feel the joy of sharing a meal, opening presents carefully chosen for them and taking the time to reflect on the goodness of our lives. Christmas is a time to sit back and reflect on all our blessings. It’s about opening our hearts and believing in miracles. Christmas is definitely a magical time for me.

May you get to experience the beauty of this season, and may your hearts feel the warmth.

Merry Christmas to you all from the bottom of my heart!
